Cut-off Times: There is an overall cut-off time of 6 hours; with interim checkpoints

Categories: Wheelchair, 17-24, 25-29, 30-34. 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100+

Prize Money: Prize money is equal for males and females (across the line). See Prize Money for more information

Incentive: Incentive is paid to the overall winners only (winner must run under specified time to collect incentive). See Prize Money for more information

Age Group Prize: Winners in each category will be awarded a 1st place Age Group medal. Age group medals are awarded to first place in each category only and will be mailed out after event weekend.

Atlas Majors Medal: When you complete a marathon (42.2km) at all of Atlas Event's major running festivals (Hobart, Brisbane, Cairns and Sunshine Coast), you join an exclusive club and are eligible to receive a special medallion to celebrate your achievement. Once you have completed all four marathons you can apply for your Atlas Majors Medal.

2025 EVA Air Marathon (Taipei): If you enter the 2025 EVA Air Sunshine Coast Marathon and the 2025 EVA Brisbane Marathon you could win a trip to Taipei to run in the 2025 EVA Air Marathon in Taipei. Learn more.

The new course enhances the runner experience with a smoother, more scenic route, better race flow, and fewer turnarounds. It also allows for greater capacity and less congestion as the event grows.

Q: Is the course still flat and fast?

Yes! The new route remains predominantly flat, making it perfect for PBs, first-timers, and elite runners alike.

Q: Is the start time the same?

Yes! The marathon will still start at 6:00 AM.

Q: Will the start and finish locations change?

No, the marathon will still start and finish at Alexandra Headland, maintaining the same great atmosphere.

Q: What are the major course highlights?

The race features stunning coastal views, takes runners through Twin Waters and Mudjimba, and crosses the Sunshine Motorway Bridge twice for panoramic water views.

Q:How will this affect spectators and supporters?

The course provides multiple great vantage points for spectators, including Alexandra Headland, Cotton Tree, and the Sunshine Motorway Bridge crossings.

Q: Will the new course be certified for official records and qualifying times?

Yes! The course is AIMS-certified, meaning times will be eligible for World Marathon Majors qualifying standards.

Q: Will this course be faster than the previous one?

With fewer turns and a streamlined route, the course is designed for faster times, making it an exciting challenge for elites and everyday runners.

Q: If I’ve already registered, do I need to do anything?

No, all existing registrations remain valid.

Q: Can I upgrade from another distance to the marathon?

Yes! You can upgrade to the marathon, subject to availability (until sold out). Simply log in to your registration account to change distances.

Q: Will the course still have aid stations, toilets and pacers?

Yes! The race will feature well-placed aid stations, toilets, pacers, and on-course support to help runners achieve their goals.

Q: I’m working towards the Atlas Majors Medal and previously completed the old marathon course. Will it still count?

Yes! All past Sunshine Coast Marathon finishes, including those on the previous course, still count toward your Atlas Majors Medal.
